My journey began in the vibrant chaos of Mumbai, where crowded streets, loud markets, and late-night chai set the tone for an unforgettable trip. The city’s energy felt electric — a perfect place to start exploring India.
From there I slowed down in Goa and found a more relaxed rhythm. I met Chris and we spent easy days at Shiva Valley, soaking up the laid-back beach culture, live music, and warm sea breezes that make Goa a favorite for travelers seeking both fun and calm.
Delhi was next — a necessary stop and a gateway to Agra’s Taj Mahal. I timed my visit to coincide with Holi, and watching the city erupt in color and laughter was an experience I won’t forget. Delhi’s mix of history, food, and festival life made it a standout on the route.
Varanasi felt truly Indian: ancient ghats along the Ganges, morning prayers, and a spiritual atmosphere that lingers long after you leave. Walking the riverfront at dawn was one of the trip’s most powerful moments.
I wrapped up the India leg with a strength-testing overland journey — hopping trains, buses, and taxis — and crossed into Nepal. The route through Gorakhpur to the Sunauli border was rough and rewarding, a proper travel rite of passage that connected the cities and cultures I’d been exploring.
